Introduction - SSC

SSC is an Indian organization to recruit staff for various posts in the various Ministries and Departments of the Government of India and in Subordinate Offices. The SSC commission is a steam office of the Department of Personnel and Training which consists of Chairman, two Members and a Secretary Controller of Examinations. The commission conducted various recruitment exams.

The Estimates Committee of the Parliament recommended the setting up of a Service Selection Commission in it’s for conducting examinations for recruitment to lower categories of posts. Later, in the Department of Personnel and Administrative Reforms, on 4 November 1975 Government of India constituted a Commission called the Subordinate Services Commission. On 26 September 1977, Subordinate Services Commission renamed into Staff Selection Commission. The functions of the Staff Selection Commission were redefined by the Government of India through Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions in 21 May 1999. Then the new constitution and functions of the Staff Selection Commission came into effect from 1 June 1999.

The SSC function is to conduct examinations and interviews to make recruitment to Group "C" and Group "D" posts for the various Ministries and Departments of the Government of India. It does not make any recruitment for states. It serves only central govt.

 

Eligibility Criteria

Age Limit

• For Inspector of Income Tax/ Inspector (Central Excise)/ Inspector (Preventive Officer)/ Inspector (Examiner)/ Inspector of Posts/ Assistant Enforcement Officer/Inspector (CBN) Compiler/ Divisional Accountant/ Auditors/ UDCs /Tax Assistants/ Junior Accountant & Accountant /Sub-Inspector (CBN): 18-27 years

• For Statistical Investigator Gr.II: Not exceeding 26 years

• For Assistant/Sub Inspector in CBI: 20-27 years

Educational Qualifications

Compiler: Bachelor’s Degree from any recognized University with Economics or Statistics or Mathematics as compulsory or Elective subject.

Statistical Investigator Grade – II: Bachelor’s Degree with Statistics as one of the main subjects

Or

Bachelor’s Degree with Mathematics (with Statistics as a papers studied in one year/two years/all three years as the case may be) as one of the main subjects

Or

Bachelor’s Degree with Economics (with Statistics as a paper studied in one year/two years/all the three years as the case may be) as one of the main subjects

Or

Bachelor’s Degree with Commerce (with Statistics as a paper studied in one year/two years/all the three years as the case may be) as one of the main subjects

All other Posts:Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized University or equivalent

Scheme of Examination

The Examination will be conducted in three tiers as mentioned below:

Tier -I -- Written Examination (Objective Multiple Choice Type)

Tier -II -- Written Examination (Objective Multiple Choice Type)

Tier -III -- Personality Test cum Interview/Computer Proficiency Test/ Skill Test (wherever applicable)/ Document Verification & Descriptive/on-line test of qualifying nature.

How to Apply

The candidate can apply through online and offline mode of application.

Application Fee: Rs 100/-

However, Women candidates and candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe, Physically Handicapped, and Ex-Servicemen eligible for reservation are exempted from paying application fee, as per extant government orders.

Selection Process: The candidates will be selected on the basis of their performance in the Tier-I and Tier-II Examination followed by Tier-III Exam.
